Started the day out at 4 am, got the launch ut the boat in he water and waited a few minutes until the engine warmed up. Left a few minutes later for freshwater bay, we fished there until about 11am. We anchored the boat in 118 ft of water and didn't have any bites all morning except unwanted fish. We caught 3 of them, we thought that we would have our fish halibut bites by 9am like we did on Thursday that didn't happen. our line were straight up and down all day so we couldn't figure out why no fish by 11, so we moved on and headed to a new spot. We fished until it was almost low tide, when we got there we anchored up because the tide was running very hard. After being anchored up for about 30 minutes we decided to drift like everyone else because we saw that a boat hooked up on his first drift. At the beginning of our first drift I had the first fish on, lost that one at the boat because it went crazy once my buddy hit it with the gaff. After we lost that fish with our heads low, we were like laughs because he left my leader like coiled spring. I had to tie a new one and began fish again. Five minutes later I thought I was caught up on the bottom and I was wrong once I lifted my rod. The fight was on, that fish kept the pressure on the whole time. He intended to win so since I only fished with 65lb power pro I keep my drag at the ideal pressure. After a long fight we had him at the side of the boat and boy was it a choir trying to tie home to the cleat. The fish trashed so much that we were all wet after the whole ordeal.. I will be back in 2 weeks for the final days.
