Went out yesterday in my friend Terry's new boat. Terry is also on this board. We launched at Everett at 7AM and went to the Racetrack. Really nice day, flat calm, started out just after high slack. Fairly heavy tide yesterday around 8-9 feet of tide change. I think this was the first time Terry had ever fished Blackmouth.
Usual gear, hot spot flashers, dark green spatterback glo squids, two twinkle skirts and some salted herring strips left over from last Fall. Fished the Racetrack along the spine 90-120fow, and 80-90 feet on the DR. We got our first fish after only half hour or so, got another after about an hour and a third after about two hours. The small one was just 22" but the other two were bigger, one 6 pounds and the 7 pounds. (Terry got two but I got the biggest one!)
Water was very clear to start but clouded up as the out tide kicked in and became pretty dirty from river run off. Most optimistic thing there was a lot of bait More and bigger bait balls than I've seen in Saratoga Passage for awhile. We fished Elger for about an hour with no joy but by then the water had dirtied up bad.
Terry's new boat worked great and looks like a lucky boat! If you go out I would recommend sticking with the incoming tide and you will get clearer water. Blackmouth are sight feeders and they need to see your gear. Fishchecker told us one other boat also got three but all the other boats he checked had nada. Quit about 2PM.
