Wanted to get some Sound fishing in before the salmon started hitting the rivers, so we headed out to Bainbridge Island. We were fishing from Rolling Bay, a really private place, we only got to fish there because a friend invited us. Started with some Buzz Bombs and Rotators, no bites for a while but we saw one guy who said he caught a small silver on a green, white, and magenta Bomb. It was super windy, probably something like 35 mph gusts. Then I switched to a silver Krocodile spoon with an orange stripe, medium-slow retrieve near the surface. My dad stayed with a perch Buzz Bomb. Within 10 minutes I hooked and landed a beautiful 4-5 lb. hen; I was so happy! 15 minutes later, around 10:35, I got a 5-6 buck on the same setup. Even though we only caught 2 fish, we were excited because we hadn't seen any jumping. Both of 'em struck about 12 yards from shore, real solid takedown, not vicious, kind of felt like a moving snag. If anyone has any easy access points on the Snoho for coho this fall, please let me know. Good luck and tight lines!
