Fished lighthouse park for a couple hours with nothing. Was about to give up when I decided to try something different. Same rotator, just different technique. Cast out, let sink for a second, then reeled in fast. As the lure came out of the water at the end of the retrieval, so did the fish that was apparently chasing it. This gets my heart going again. 3 more casts snagging eel grass, and BAM! the fish hits hard. I get it almost to the beach when SNAP, I lose the fish and my gear. Gotta remember to re tie those knots every once in awhile. So I put on a different color rotator and try again. It takes another 20 minutes or so and a lot more eel grass when another fish hits hard. This time I beach the fish and land my first coho from this park. I fish a little longer, but by now my parking time is up.
I get to my truck just as the Mukilteo police show up to check parking (mine is expired by about 10 minutes). I rush over and put a quarter in the machine which buys me another 15 minutes so I can rinse off and change. Not a bad day on the beach.
