Did a second albacore trip of the summer on a 2 day charter out of Westport. Weather was good. As soon as the troll rods went out 5 of them hooked up and we ended up doing 2 bait stops that landed about a dozen fish. On the third baitstop it was instant hookups and we stayed on the same spot for the next 3 or so hours and just about plugged the hold. One final stop after that one slowed down and we were done. I've always been amazed by this albacore fishery, but Saturday was wide open squared. For 3 hours, a fly lined anchovy would get bit within 30 seconds of hitting the water. The fish started out small then the bigger fish moved in. Got a few over 30 and the largest weighed in at the weigh station at 38.5. After 5 hours of fishing the boat was plugged with 200 albacore for 10 people. We got back in at around 6 pm on day 1 of the 2 day.
