We started trolling the Slag pile about 7am. The problem with the kicker starting this morning was it wouldn’t stay running. But once it decided to run it did well. I was trying for pinks. Nothing but jellyfish hanging on my braided downrigger cable. Opps, Richard reminded me that he did catch a Coho shaker.
So we pulled it up and headed for Browns Point. Saw a few fish caught. Richard and I caught flounders. Then I moved us a little bit and Kim hooked a salmon. She thought it was a pink. After all we were jigging with pink jigs. But the more I looked at it the more I thought it was a Chinook. It was chillin in the net while she looked up the description of the difference. The clincher was that this fish had teeth on its tongue so back it went. My boats first King. Kim said lets go to the mouth. We went to the Puyallup. Nothing there so we came in about 12:00pm.
One day I will know where and how to catch in the salt on my own boat.
Kim took these pictures of my boat.
