Called WFDW yesterday requesting King limit be raised to 2 for me today (60% of quota left--only 2-3 solid weeks of king season left!). Answer was no-have to review last weeks data. That said, drove down last night with friend Mike Bos; launched at 6 & followed fleet 22 miles from Buoy 8 NW to Charter fleet land (I can gather coordinates off GPS but guessing 15 miles straight out from Copalis). Long way for my little TideRunner. Made it in 1.5 hours. Got there & NW wind immediately kicks up--ok to troll south but tough run north. Made 3 passes. Hooked several kings looking for some big ones. 265' of water down 200-240' on the cable. Anything worked...naked herring, naked spoon, squid...Kept these two fatties then trolled for coho for a couple hours (with no luck). Wind let up some for the trip in around 2--still 22 miles is a trek. Didn't see much bait or life out there--clear water. Charters had nets out continually.
