Went out 6am Saturday morning to fish the flood tide for pinks. Switched all the tackle to lightweight and went with the tradition 11" white flasher and a 17" leader to the 2" mini pink squid. We were marking quite a few fish around 50' in 80' of water and trolled 1.5 mph. We started off with a small shaker, then shortly after that came the first big surprise of the day. We hooked up with a nice king that new salvation was waiting for him if he could just reach the crab pot bouys nearby. Luckly we were able to avoid them and pull him out to deeper water where we netted all 17 pounds of him. Thought we had hit the lotto! Went back to the top of our run and 20 minutes later hooked into another big king. Had to chase this buck down but ended with him at the side of the boat but with one more fin then we wanted. He was throughly exhausted as were we, but we took solice in watching him swim off to hopefully spawn in the near future. He was quite dark as was probably waiting for some rain to lift the level of his river. We estimated around 25 pounds. In all there were about a half dozen boats and a few shore fishers. Didn't see a single net raised. The next day we didn't mark a think on the same tide.
