As promised here is the report for our last day fishing Sitka Alaska.
The morning started out a bit slow so we boated on up to Cape and fished where no one else was. There were a fleet of commercial boats out where we began. Today was a special day as the Captain let me get some experience guiding the boat. Once he found out that I had a passion for it. I worked the downriggers and kept my eye on the fish finder. I must say I did a pretty damn good job finding bait balls and kept our lines at the correct depths. I hooked the first fish a 15lb King Salmon and another 20lb+ Coho like the first day. We ended up getting our limits of salmon (24) in less than 3 hours.. Once we started targeting Halibut and Cod I gave up because I had no clue what to look for when it comes to finding those bad boys. Captain knew exactly where they were.
As we were Halibut fishing we got ourselves into a couple yellow eye (red snapper) which are fun to reel in. I also hooked and landed a 6 foot Alaskan Blue Shark which was the best part of my trip. I respect these guys and their extremely powerful nature. Such a beautiful fish as you can see in the pic. I have this battle recorded which will be nice to show off back home. I forgot to mention I had a sea lion steal 3 of my salmon right off my line and stayed right behind the boat the entire time until we decided to shake him and move locations.
Such an amazing experience and I plan on coming back here in the near future. Huge shout out to my guide for making my first trip to Alaska one to remember! Tight Lines WA LAKERS
