Hello all,
It's been a while since I have posted a report so I decided its about time. This report is from my Alaska trip that I am currently still on. 3 day guided fishing trip in Sitka.
First day was absolutely amazing. I caught the first fish which happened to be the biggest of the salmon. We weighed him (buck) at 20 lbs and I also caught the biggest Halibut at 100lbs. We ended up with a total of 4 Halibut, 18 Silvers, and 2 Kings. The best part about day one was that our guide was not sure we would catch much do to the weather. I told him not to worry because I was wearing my lucky fishing shirt and no longer after that my rod starts dancing lol. It constant action from then till we left.
Day 2 which is todays report, we were able to limit out on Silvers for a total of 24. These bad boys are everywhere out here hitting at all depths. They are so much bigger than back home. Averaging 12lbs or heavier. Most in the 15-18lb range. I was able to hook a yellow eye Red Snapper which was my first ever. Halibut fishin was way better than day 1 but much smaller fish pushing 50lbs. Absolutely killer day.
I get to fish one more day tomorrow and we will be targeting more kings this trip out. Best experience ever for my first time being in Alaska and fishing. Doesn't get better than this! Tight lines to all my fellow anglers in Wa and I will hopefully see you soon out on the water.
