Got there early morning with 2 friends and went over to Tokeland. Then headed back out into channel, to put out crab pots. We then started trolling but it sure was fun cleaning off the gear every 10 minutes or less because of the grass. I think we saw one boat use the net. Other then that it was really slow from our view. Weather was decent. Also no crabs because our pots went missing. Were they picked up? Don't know. Did they get washed inland. Don't know. We search all over and all the way back to Raymond. Didn't see our pots anywhere.

Sorry to hear about the missing pots. I try to keep an eye on mine when I fish and only drop them during the few hours around an exchange. It's worked for me so far, knock wood. So you did you try fishing outside the bay at all?

No, I was told that my boat being only a 16' Olympic. It was not advisable to go out there. We did get close enough to see the water breakers
from a distance. So after we dropped the pots by channel marker 16 we trolled along the coast about 5 miles and headed back. We used in 2 pots (pots weighing about 5 lbs) a 5 lbs weight (plus the floats were painted florescent pink, can't miss them from a distance) and the flag pots had 10 lbs weights. We dropped them in 35 - 50 feet of water, gave each one 15 -20 feet of extra line to account for the incoming tide. But we couldn't find them. We had a friend go back out on low slack tide to see if they could be seen but, nope. Now we are thinking we got ripped off. But it happens.
