The day started out with a very rough boat ride from Everett Marina to the ship wreck. There we dropped our crab pots and made our way to Possession Bar. Because of tides and the strong wind we went to the West side. It wasn't quite as bad but it was still bad, I have the bruises on my left hip to prove it. Anyway, enough whining, on to fishing. About 45 minutes into trolling the Port rod goes off and I reeled in a very nice 13 lb hen. Wahoo, way to start the day! Got this one on a Glo white flasher with a green stripe and a White Lightning Coho Killer. After that things were real slow. We brought in a few dog fish and a handful of flounder. Finally after getting rocked and rolled all day, things calmed down for the afternoon tide change. We went to Point no Point but it was dead there as well, no bait, nothing on the finder. It was back to the bar for another half hour of fishing or so before we were going to pick up our crab pot's. Wouldn't you know it, the Port rod went off again! This time we were running a UV Red Racer Flasher and an Irish Flag Coho Killer. My wife hip checked my buddy Martin out of the way and masterfully brought in the big fat 15 lb buck. What a way to bookend the day. After that we went and pulled our pot's. Crabbing has been exceptional for us this year. We had 22 keepers in our pot's but only 15 spots on our catch records. 7 keepers got to live and grow another day.

My tip for today when fishing for these summer kings is to watch your depth finder and adjust you downriggers to where the fish are. Too many times I hear people say that drug bottom all day. We started out on the bottom but when we saw bait and fish at 75' in 128 feet of water, we raised up our gear and got the first fish. The second one we got on the bottom. There was nothing on the screen at all so that one kind of surprised us. Good luck out there, go get em.

Good report! How deep were you crabbing? We've been having to go deeper than normal down south.
