Put 4 pots out baited with turkey legs Thursday after work with Dad. Friday morning my daughter, mom, dad, and I all loaded up to check the pots. I got a little ways from the launch and the motor died. After several failed attempts to get it going again, we ended up rowing back. Got the boat back on the trailer and headed to a buddies house to borrow his outboard. Swapped motors and we are in business...sort of. Got to the first pot and it had 6 keeper males! Sweet! Motor over to pot two and the borrowed motor starts losing power and sputtering but we made it to the pot. Pull it up and again all males no females and no under sized ones. Weird...anyway recorded 10 from that pot. Re-baited and sent it back down. Got to the third pot with the motor still acting funny, and it had a few undersized ones, only one female, and again too many to count keeper males. Well we could only keep 4 at this point so thats all of our limits!!! Woohoo! Called my wife to have her and my oldest daughter meet us at the boat ramp and we pull the last pot and grab the ones we sent back down with their licenses. We pulled the last pot up and not one crab was in there. Turkey was eaten off of though. We got robbed. No sweat though because pot three still has keepers in it. Re-baited pot 4 and went back to pot 3. Pulled 8 keepers and sent it back down. Back to pot 2 for 2 more keepers and thats a 6 person family limit! Crabbing is always a lot of work but we worked harder than usual. we were nicely rewarded with a fresh crab and steak dinner for our efforts.
