We set 4 pots yesterday afternoon in Wollochet Bay near Gig Harbor. We went from 100' - 160' deep using chicken legs as bait with some pellets added for good measure. Pulled the pots today after a little over 24 hour soak.
Keepers = 2 dungies and 8 red rock. There were maybe 40-50 small females all total.
On the way out we noticed a lot of what I'm assuming are tribal pots. The buoys are mostly red with a few white or blue or other odd ball colors thrown in. They were all in much deeper water - up to 220+ ft. We had read recently that it might be a good idea to start trying deeper - due to the tribal crabbing. So we set pots yesterday a little deeper than our normal 50'-125'. That didnt work out as well as we hoped so we reset today to 175' and more out in the main channel between Gig Harbor and Fox Island. Further out than most others in the area but not as far out as the tribal pots.
We will see how tomorrow goes....
