With the beautiful weather yesterday, I had to take a personal day and hit the ocean! Started the morning with razor clams, and there were shows everywhere! Limited in 15 minutes and they were all bigger size clams. Nice start to the morning!
The rest of the day was slow. Went to my honey hole for surf perch, pumped some sand shrimp, and fished my hole for a few hours as high tide was coming in. I think the water was a bit too calm to bring them in close. Ended up with three big enough to keep, released a couple small ones, and missed a few bites...but for how this hole normally fishes, that's extremely slow. No hogs either...the 3 that I kept were medium size. Just big enough to eat.
Left my perch hole around 1pm to head to the boardwalk in the Westport Marina. It was terribly slow. Tried throwing spinners with bait trailing....nada. Tried jigs tipped with bait...nada. Tried throwing out a dropper rig with bait and shrimp flies...nada. Tried dropping a crab ring in the marina...nada (no keepers anyway).
Headed back to my perch hole around 5pm to try and round up a few more perch to finish the day...but they still weren't there. Caught a greenling, and a bunch of small annoying crabs, but that's it. Was just a slow day for fish...at least the clamming was good!
The weather was amazing, and I've got the neon red sunburn to prove it! LOL
