My bros and I went out and tried for lings at the Elliot Bay Marina while we soaked some shrimp pots on Wed.
Not even one nibble! The only reason I gave it a 2 rating was the beautiful day, mild tides and decent shrimping :)
We launched out of Manchester at 6AM and the water was almost glass smooth for a quick trip over to Alki beach for some live sand dabs. We caught 4 ea for the live-well in less than 15 minutes using frozen herring in about 50 ft of water in front of the apartments/condos.
Then we buzzed over to the marina and dropped our pots and went for the lings. We drifted along the rock wall several times from one end to the other for the next several hours with not one single nibble. There were several other boats and a few kayakers all fishing with us and we saw no one bring in anything other than one rock fish. We ended up releasing 6 or 7 live sand dabs back into the wild for another time.
It was a beautiful day and we did get 3 limits of shrimp, so it was still a great day of fishing :)
