My two brothers and I took out our brand new Smoker Craft Phantom 202 for its first salt water shake down fishing trip today. We got a really late start and launched out of Kingston at 11 AM. I marked some bait balls and a few fish in about 300 ft of water as we motored over to Possession bar but by the time I got us turned around we couldnt find them again.
The tide was going out so we trolled the north side of Possession staying in the 90-140' depth range. We caught one shaker almost immediately. About a 1/2 hour later we landed a 26" wild black mouth that looked to be around 7 pounds maybe. That was the last fish we saw except for one really nice size fish we saw being eaten by a large seal. Marked a few more on the sounder but none interested in our setups. We mainly trolled with herring and spoons. We caught the one fish on a chartreuse spoon with no flasher. Tried mooching around the bar and then over along Pt No Point later in the day with no luck.
Beautiful day on the water though!
