Went out to westport this weekend in search of some chinook since they opened it up to 2 kings hatch or wild. We couldnt find a chinook anywhere and that was most of the talk over the radio! the reports were head out to 300ft of water and fish deep so thats what we tried. all we found were coho and they were thick everywhere. we couldnt hardly get the line in the clip and the fish were hitting it right on the surface. We were trying to fish deep but it was very hard to get the ball down deeper than 140ft without a coho hitting it on the way down. we heard over the radio that a fish ripped a guys pole right out the back of the boat while he was trying to get it in the downrigger, a couple hours later another boat got on the radio and said he caught a pole that matched the same description! Our friend Zach came out and fished with us and said he had never seen fishing this hot! The only problem was the native to hatchery was probably 10/1 and these fish were big with hooked noses already. Its a bummer to let all those fish go but was a blast catching them. Anyone wanting to catch a lot of fish, head out to 300ft. Fish on!!!
