I hadn't planned on going fishing today. I was comfortable sitting in front of my computer (wasn't I) drinking my morning cup of joe reading the latest fishing reports. Besides my wife probably wanted to do something together today. But we went grocery shopping yesterday didn't that count? So I hopped in my truck and 40 minutes later found myself helping a gentleman land a 25 pound King on the beach. It was released safely after it insisted on getting its picture taken with the guy. All in all I saw 3 guys land limits on silvers, me being one of the guys. The king was caught using a hoochie and spoon combo. One guy was using cut plug herring very successfully and I was using a silver sparkle pork trailer that you use on a skirted jig when large mouth bass fishing (I got the idea watching the guy using herring limit out in ten minutes). No pinks. at least not while I was there.

That small fish looks like a pink! Pinks have very small scales that remove easily. The tail should have spots, but can not see that real good in the picture. Head sure looks like a pinky too.

HOW TO RELEASE FISH
When you need to release a fish, there are some special precautions you can take to give it the best chance of surviving:
· Minimize handling by leaving the fish in the water.
· Do not net your fish – but if you must, use a soft, knotless net or rubber mesh net. Knotless nets are now required in fly-fishing only areas and freshwater areas with selective gear rules.
· Use a hook remover (dehooker) when hooks are imbedded in the mouth or jaw.
· If a fish has swallowed the hook, cut the leader.
· Keep fingers away from the eyes and gills of the fish.
