I got a new boat last month (14 foot WC Lund). My fiancée and I took it out for the first time today. We launched out of Luhr's Landing around 4:30 pm; high tide was 6:33. Plenty of things went wrong on the maiden voyage-- the plug was too small, therefore took on a lot of water, the fish finder was on the fritz, and I'll definitely need a new motor because the transom high increase. But it was a great day!
We dropped two pots in 100-120 feet of water off the mouth of the Nisqually. We used shad carcasses for bait. A lot of boaters were out- it was a beautiful day! Only did one pull; about an hour and a half soak. Got four dungies; two keepers. They were big 'uns. We could of dropped again, but the goal was two. I also caught and released some flounder and sculpin on a small silver jig tipped with a teeny strip of shad while I waited. We left around 7:30. Back at the launch the action report seemed sub-par. One couple got skunked. Three other gentlemen got a dungies and two red rocks.
