This is my first salt report, and first time fishing the salt in this state. I fished about 1/4 mile from shore in a kayak in about 50-80ft of water. Waves were pretty tame, lots of boat traffic, coming from the Marina near by. Lots of fish caught. Me and another WA laker; ilvlakecassidy, caught 30, of what I believe are rock soles, between the two of us. He caught all his on the bottom with a half of a nightcrawler. I caught my 15 on red pautzki salmon eggs on the bottom, I released 3 and kept 12. a lot of fun, twas a good first salt trip. side note: the seals weren't shy around the kayaks.. One swam right up, I had to put my ore near it's face before it backed off.

Hold those fish up to the light and look through the meat. Often times they are full of wormy parasites. But again, many are just fine.

My wife's favorite fish to eat. The fillets are light, flakey and hold the butter, garlic and salt real well.

Check for wormy parasites like "The Quadfather" said. Also you might want to avoid the ones with the black tumors on them. It seems like a large amount of them have the tumors. Those are what I catch for bait to catch lingcod.

I did check.for parasites 100% clean :), my filet technique was Honed by, icefishing for perch back home (upstate new York) perch fillets are a local favorite, I used to catch/clean dozens out on the ice while waiting for flags on our tippups... practice makes perfect.

I do alot of Flounder fishing just at the tip of Vashon Island on the west side, and I must say that I have caught some nice size fish there. I use frozen squid for bait and also Bucktail jigs.
