I decided to take a day off from steelhead fishing to chase the elusive razor clams on the coast. I had just received a new clam gun and collection bag from my daughters' for Christmas so I met up with a buddy and headed to Grayland Beach. It rained most of the way to the beach but stopped before we got there and the wind was non-existent. Perfect! We hit the beach around 5:45 PM and had our limits before the low tide at 7:15 PM. The clams were smaller than what we were accustomed to when clamming down near Long Beach but you can't have it all. I hadn't ever night clammed before so it was a bit of a learning experience. I found out you can never have enough light because my LED headlamp was pretty ineffective. We did most of our spotting with my buddy's handheld lantern. The picture shows the ten best clams out of my limit. Tight lines and good digging to all!
