Haven't posted in awhile, but this needs to be shared. Went fishing at Jeff head, snuck out early from work, since weather was good, and stormy days were ahead. Slipped into the trench at 120 feet, down rigged to 75 feet. Five minutes, snap fish on. Heavy fish, fought for a few, then boom, went slack. Fishing cut-plug with a flasher, gear was intact. Two more take-downs, same result. Was reeling in to change location, boom, fish hit, went slack, pulled up only a fish-head!!!!! As I looked to my rear, seal surfaced, smiled, then submerged. FOUR times he ripped-off fish. I was the only boat out, there were seals everywhere, more than I usually see. This sucker dialed me in, just waited. Lots of fish in the area. I have had this happen to me when I used to set-net, never when I sport fished, but I hear lots of stories. But four fish in a period of 45 minutes?? Frustrating, because I have only been finding barely sub-legals, a few just over 22 inches. The first hook-up was a slab. Whadda gonna do? Three stars, only because I hooked-up 4 times, got frustrated and went home.
