Went to Williams lake for the first time this year on opening day. I fished from the dock just after midnight because I was anxious to get some fishing in after a long break. I didn't catch anything at night. Woke up in the morning to find less than desirable weather, but went out anyway in the boat with my wife. I was using a green and yellow flat fish and I was nailing the fish in a matter of seconds after casting back out every time. I put on a spoon for my wife made by mepps it is green and yellow on one side and silver on the other. She was not getting as many hits as I was but she was catching larger fish. 2-4 pounds for her where the largest I caught was maybe 2 pounds. It did not take long to catch our limits both days. The fishing was great the whole weekend. However, the second day was a little slower for trolling so we decided to anchor and use power bait. That was the ticket for the second day. We used all colors and it didn't matter what we threw in the water they ate everything. Again had a nice stringer of fish that were 14 inches and larger. I didn't explore the lake that much because I fished the end near Klinks Resort and the fishing was excellent so there was no need to explore. There is a public boat launch at that end of the lake and right around that launch is where I caught my fish. All in all some of the best fishing for trout in a while for me.
