My son and I took off from Everett at around 7:30 am in a thick dense fog like someone mentioned earlier. We stopped first at the west side of Possession bar, joining the massive armada already trolling. We started out in about 120' of water and as my 13 yo son directed the boat ,I set the riggers at 108' and 85'. I had a green and white hotspot flasher with a red stripe followed by an army truck 4" coyote spoon on one side and a green and white flasher with a light green spatterback squid on the other with a herring strip. After about 30 minutes the fog started to thin and I got restless not seeing any nets, so we picked up and ran over to Point no Point. We started East of the point with the same gear and trolled West. There must have been 50 or 60 boats right on the point, it was chaotic with drifters and trollers all intermingled so I tried to keep us outside of the madness. We made a big loop and started back to the east when bam! The coyote got nailed. My son took the wheel and I tried to fight the fish, slow the trolling motor and clear the other rod all at once. Next thing you know we're in the mix of other boats trying not to hit anyone and land this fish. I was able to yell out that we had a fish on and my 13 yo was driving, so everyone around us were cool and gave us some space. Finally I was able to get the fish close and my son was able to net a very nice 13.5 lb hatchery king. Whew, what a relief! The rest of the day was much less eventful. We switched gear multiple times but no more kings were to be caught. I did pick up a nice little coho that hit as I was bringing up my gear to check for weeds. I picked up my girlfriend in the afternoon and she snapped the beautiful sunset photo. It was a long but good day. At 8:30pm the fish checkers had tallied 69 kings and 13 coho for a .5 fish per boat average. I gave it a 4 rating instead of a 3 because it was quality time with loved ones and we beat the .5 fish per boat average.
