OK, I haven’t read today’s reports yet and may well embarrass myself, but it was tough for us today. What a total change from two days ago. My son James and I had lines in the water at 6:45, working jigs and expecting a bite which for us, never came. James had one bump, me, nothing. Saw trollers getting fish, not a huge number of nets out but enough for me to scrabble around the boat looking for something to troll with. Because we did SO well on Saturday, in my sin of Pride I figured, “naw, leave the flashers at home”. Hah! Well, I did have my riggers and found (one!) dodger and a Kone Zone so got those in the water with pink hoochies. We trolled 2 hrs, long distance lost one and had a leader failure at the net, ouch. Went back to jigging in shallow, out deep, didn’t matter. Tried different gear, buzz bombs, didn’t matter.

To my eyes it looked like a lot of anglers had it tough, and I’m sure some did well. The conditions were not as nice today. More wind, waves, and cooler. Maybe that had something to do with our poor luck. Definitely a disappointment but James didn’t seem to care that much. He even brought his guitar along and got some scales practice in while we were trolling – that’s time management for ya!

That sucks, I will be out there in the morning. I hope the bite is better tomorrow. Thanks for the report Mike.

I agree, that sucks. It seems like this time of the August the sound should be full of pinks. Is it possible that they come in "waves" that have day-long gaps between them?

I think the weather was part to blame, and I'm sure we would have done better if I had the proper trolling gear. I was just so sure we were going to knock them out on jigs. They definately were not interested in jigs.

Darn sorry to hear that Mike. We had the luck of the Irish and a woman driver! We hit one small pocket of fish and kept circling and going thru it to pick up six of our eight for the day. Flasher, pink hoochie, small, for us anyhoo.

We were out 4p.m. to close to 7p.m. only one bump at the surface. Tons of trawlers north of the ferry dock at Mukilteo.

I had read your report and others for Saturday and really hoped to take simular advantage.... but it was not to be.

We saw a guy at the boat launch who said "in 30 years of being here I haven't seen that many...." regarding the freaking fishing trawlers and nets....

I don't think we saw any boats with fish. Kelp yes.... fish on maybe.... fish landed was a nada.
