So my dad has a long weekend so we'll be heading out fishing every morning until Sunday for some Chinook fishing. We got out and started fishing at about 6:30-7 AM at Jeff's Head, we were thinking the fog was much worse than what it was so we didn't get there earlier. My dad was using a UV purple haze flasher with a purple haze squid with a herring strip and I tried a UV green flasher with a whole herring head clip setup. After about 5 minutes of my dad's stuff being down he got a hit and got the fish in after we got our tangled lines unwrapped, it was a stinky pink, dad wants some kings, we already got enough pinks in the freezer, but put it inside the box. So we thought it would've been a pretty good day after that start but it wasn't. That was the only salmon we got to the boat. My dad lost 2 fish, one I'm for sure was a king by how it was on his line being a bigger fish, but of course he was trying to pull his downrigger up instead of playing his fish and lost the fish, so I had to give him some lip for that one. I didn't get any hits on the whole herring setup, I think the herring was too big, I'll probably try the smaller herring he has in the fridge tomorrow morning if the hootchie I start out with tomorrow doesn't get any bites. I lost a little shaker too that didn't even stay on after I had set the hook to get it off the downrigger. We also caught a couple flounders while trolling around for kings.
