Fish for the fun of it.
Launched the boat about 8:30 a.m. with the full crew, we we're
going to fish only 3 hours. Staying within sight of the launch
electronics were showing numerous fish at 11 feet of water. The water temperature was a bit chilly at 62 degrees. We chose deep diving crank baits and trolled them at different depths to try and find active fish. I was the first to hook up on a nice 3 pound smallie. A short time later Bob hooked something of substantial size. At first we thought he was snagged but after turning the boat around we couldn't catch up with it. It stayed deep and had his flippin stick bent like a noodle rod for five minutes or more. We were all betting on what he had. As usual, the longer the fight, the more chance of losing your fish and it finally pulled free never showing itself. We decided he had to have snagged one of the large carp the lake has to offer. It did not fight like a Muskie. The skiers and jet skiers were very well mannered today so it was a pleasure being on the water. CPR catch, photo and release!
