Fishing off of Small Jetty in Westport Wa, started fishing June 3rd 10:30pm, first 5 cast 4 sea bass. the wind picked up and it was dead. Rested few hours and headed back up, the wind was still blowing around 15 mph from north west and no fish all night, ended up calling it quits around 4am.
June 4, friends caught small greenlins and perch using live sandshrimp. few friends and I jigged for sea bass and ling but nothing. 10 am to 3pm, total of 5 fish caught using live bait.
note: friend gave me the live greenling to be used for bait to catch a ling. used 4oz bobber with only 2 hooks and casted. 5 mins later the bobber disapears, I yank but came up empty, should have left it for him to swallow it.
June 4th night fishing, perfect fishing weather, no wind, tide was calm, stars were bright. The moon was missing and the fish too. Me and two friends caught total of 3 fish in long hours. Ended up calling it quits around 2am.
June 5th, the wind picked up little but wasn't too bad, the tide was calm and it was a great fishing condition but no fish. All together it was a bad fishing experience, first time heading to Westport and not hitting the big jetty.
Please note: when I go fishing I take several poles and try most of all the method, methods I tried are: jiggins, small jigs, large jigs 9inch, small fish, large fish cast and retrieve. haring, sandshrimp, bobber and dead bait and live bait. I don't like to fish off the bottom because I have lost too many rigs. I use light weight with bait or I use bobber + jig + bait. Since starting this year, this trip was the first trip I got no lingcod. I average 2-4 lings per trip, I stay at least 2 days 1 night because it is 3 hour drive one way and $100 just on gas. I will try to make more post here. If you want any advice of what I have experienced, just ask, I will share.
