Headed to Orcas for opening day. Got there in the morning as the tide was just finishing it's outgoing flow. Caught and released quite a few small lings and a few rockfish. Did not see anyone doing any better. Used horse herring, regular sized herring, and small octopus. Low tide was about 11:30am and once it changed and the flow picked up, so did the bite. We got up two keepers by the end of our bait, but it was more of a struggle than we have had in the past. We did end up catching fish on all the different bait we used, although I think the regular sized herring worked the best. Even with the slow fishing, it was a beautiful day to be on the water. Looking forward to going back out again. Fish tacos are up next!
