Great story here... Im a long time fisherman but have been limited to fresh water most of the time because of my small 12ft boat. (and the way I was raised) I will usually go out in the saltwater a few times a year with a friend and last year was so awesome with all the pinks, silvers and kings that I decided this was the year to upgrade!!!! Anyways, went out and got a 15ft Crestliner with 25Hp Yamaha four stroke and needed to take it out for a test run. So I grabbed crab pot, pole, gear and girlfriend and then headed down to Shilshole for launch. Motor fires up first pull and were out! I figure I'm just gonna drop the pot and fish for an hour or two to make sure everything is good with the new boat. Now I have this a strange love with torturing myself by Jigging all day, dont ask me why, I think I just like the work. But since I pulled in a 15lb pound King last year jigging, I've had even more faith! So me and my buddy are jigging and the girl is reading her magazine in the front, then my buddy decides its time to pass the pole to my lady. Now, she has no saltwater experince so we had to teach her how to Jig and OF COURSE five minutes after she starts jigging on her own she shouts, "I've got something!" We're like cool.... hows it feel? And little did we notice it was taking line! Rod dancing like crazy and we're thinking to ourselves; that aint no flounder! (or shark) So we trying to tighten the drag as shes reeling and Im thinking to myself, "damn.... barbless hooks.... " So we're saying keep the line tight and keep reeling!!! Shes shouting, "I'm trying, I'm trying" So after about 10 minutes she starts talking about, "my arms getting tired and we're like JUST KEEP GOING!!!" Finally, its getting closer to the boat and then I realize, with this fancy new boat.... I failed to get the fancy big net! Next thing ya know we have a beautiful hatchery King next to the boat worn out from the fight. "When in doubt, grab by the gill and fling into the boat!" She totally nailed the lunker King in five minutes, first saltwater experience. No better way to christen the new boat!

Note: Three weeks ago we were in eastern Washington, fishing the Methow River with my dad and she pulls in a 3lb cutthroat with no River experience! Needless to say boys... She's a keeper!
