I was on a cruise up the inside passage, and decided to take a charter trip out of ketchikan. So, at 12:30, my uncle(who took me on the cruise,) and I headed out with captain Danny on the Michael Rae. We were in 570 feet of water, and were fishing at 80 feet with downriggers. One rod had a green flasher and a hoochie with a herring strip, the other had a green/silver flasher and a whole herring. After about two hours we suddenly had a double. My uncle's fish, at 15 lbs., came to the boat quickly and easily, mine, at 20 lbs., took much longer. It leaped once, went under the boat twice, and was almost in the net thrice befor finally secured. Our fish were reported to be the first caught all day in that area, so the captain felt pretty good. It was my first King ever, so I was quite satisfied.
