wow. Let me repeat that - WOW. Lights out fishing at the Hollow this morning. I was blessed to have my wife JoAnn along for a fishing trip, a rare treat indeed. I figured we would do OK, and we did. We started fishing at about 6:40 and things were pretty quiet - lot's of jumping fish but no bites. Rigs were a white flasher/pink hoochie and a red/chrome flasher/hoochie. HT was 11am. We started at Shipwreck trolling north, calm waters, low 60s. DR depths to start were 45 and 55 ft. About 7:30 we passed by Dave and Fetchitup7 trolling southbound. They were having better luck than we were so I adjusted our tactics just a bit, dropping to 65 and 77 ft on the riggers, and trolling south. That was the ticket! (thanks Dave and Fetch) We started hitting fish and didn't stop until we had our limits at 9:20am. Highlights of the morning included a nice 6 lb coho and a nice 6 lb buck pink (pictured). We also hooked into what must have been a King, as the fish was big, strong, and ran like a freight train ahead of the boat, wrapping himself around the far rigger cable and off he went.
We saw fish being caught everywhere, lot's of happy faces and nets flying. Was nice meeting a couple members as well on the water. Hope everyone has a chance to get into some humpy fun!
Oh, and from my non-fishing spouse: "That was easy. Just put the pole in the water and catch a fish, then do it again. I didn't even have time to read my magazine".
