I've been really sick for the last 2 days but incredibly I got better in time for the weekend ya! we left the marina at about 5:30am and cruised through the fog to strawberry island. we fished the west side for an hour or two without anything then headed to a few other spots were fishing was also pretty slow. we had drifted off of one shelf and continued fishing the flats when my dad hooked into a really nice fish. we thought it was a huge lingcod by the way he faught but it turned out to be about a 10lb cabazon. weird. I was getting bored and ready to call it a day so we decided to do one more drift. By this time the tide had picked up considerably so I put a 16ounce weight on my spreader bar and dropped it down. when we were at about 180ft I caught what I thought was a snag but it moved. This was a really exiting fish to fight I coulda sworn he was 40lbs. it turned out to be a 36.5 incher almost exactly the same size as the one I caught 2 weeks ago.
