Tried to fish the closing day of Area 9 with TomS. We chose to launch at Shilshole because of the foggy forecast, so we could fish close if we couldn't get up to Point No Point. Good choice! It was soupy all day!
We started at Meadows Point, which looked like about how far most folks ventured. Made a couple of passes trolling Hot Spots and spoons with only a shaker or three to show for it. About 8:00 Tom got a nice hit which released from the downrigger. He got a nice fight and we successfully evaded the seals. I netted the nice 8 pound female chinook for him. Looking good so far.
We worked our way up the East shore of the Sound doubling back when we saw fish of got a good hit. We got all the way up to the oil docks without another fish to show for it, and we never felt like we could run to PNP or Possession. I had one other fish take it off the downrigger and give me a minute or two of fight before coming off. Other than that, only shakers
