Joined the masses in Area 10 hunting for silvers with my bro-in-law Tom. Tough fishing conditions.
Launched just before 6:00 at Shilshole. Got treated to a fist fight as I was walking back from parking the truck. Not sure what injustice started it, but come on guys... get a grip... be patient at a crowded launch... some folks may not know all the proper courtesy at a ramp, so cut them some slack.
Started just out from Meadows Point trolling out near two charter boats. Nothing doing there. Moved down towards West Point and trolled towards the armada at the mid-channel buoy. Tough trolling, but we were going with the current and into the wind at about 2.5-3.0 mph on the GPS. Tom had a squid and strip at 40 and I had a Mac flash-lite and a purple haze kingfisher set at 60. I've been experimenting with the flash-lite for silvers for more fun and lighter tackle. At about 7:00 I got a good hit and the fight was on! The fish came up quick and then went sideways and just sort of swam with the boat for a bit. We got the 7-8 pound wild buck in the net!
We thought that was a good omen, but it was our only silver for the day and only bite except for some shaker blackmouth and silvers closer in to West and Meadows Points...
