First a little report on the so called "launch" at Birch Bay State Park. The launch is really for car toppers, kayaks and canoes only. You could probably launch a small boat on a trailer but you will need to un-hitch the trailer to park your rig. This is a high tide launch only as when the tide is out it is several hundred yards to the water and you are not permitted to drive on the tidelands. We launched in Blaine, which for $5.00, has a 2 lane launch and a fresh water wash down station. As the weather report was for increasing winds and SCAs we dropped a couple of pots and headed out to Point Roberts for a couple of hours of fishing. Drug hootchies, spoons and a Apex and only had one dogfish to show for it. Didn't see many other boats out there with us, of the ones that we saw most were commercial crabbers. We checked the pots and had 3 keeper dungies among a larger number of undersize and females crabs and called it a day. Spoke with another boat that came in the same time we did and they had exactly the same day we had minus the dogfish. May it try again on Sunday.
