Coho are still feeding heavily in thick pods. The trick is finding them, because they are all together and hanging close. Most Coho are running 4-6 lbs, a few in the 7lb range, but most of those bigguns are wild and are back in the water.
Coho killers are the lure of choice. I'm seeing dozens in the stomachs of the fish I keep. I also saw two perch (not sure what species, the kind that hang out right around pilings??) in the stomach of one. Big, 4 inch perch, kinda a weird find after consistently pulling dozens of candlefish outta the stomachs of these silvers.
Action is hot if you can find em. Fished over the weekend a few times, never more then a few hours at once, and the catching is fast pace. Even ditched the flasher for most of my fishing and faired plenty well, also making for a much better fight with these small silvers....
I put in about 5 hours of fishing over two days, sometimes with another person (2 rods) and had roughly 30-35 hits. No exaggeration. Brought 20-25 to the boat, turned almost all of em back to get bigger over the next few months before they hit the rivers. Kept two overall, great eating, super red meat, awesome eating on the BBQ.
Still awaiting a few more positive king reports before I get quit the fast paced Coho action and go back in search of some big kings.
