Lil' Ripper and myself went out to kayak Point this morning to do a little crabbin. We dropped our three pots then cruised around to kill some time. The little guy has a blast catching flounder and sculpin, if you've never done that with your kid's you should try it. Just use a light spinning rod, a #4 hook , a small piece of herring or a worm and enough weight to keep your bait on the bottom. Then we just drift along in 15 to 25 feet of water. It's fun and kills time while your pots soak.
We ended up with 6 keeper crabs and c&r'd about 15 fish in 3 hours on the water. It was a beautiful sunny day, and quality father and son time. Can't wait to do it again. I promise to start carrying a camera so I can post some photo's.
And now for a delayed report from last Thursday. Same story as above except that Mrs. Ripper was with us and we caught 12 keeper crabs in about 5 hours. Good luck, we'll see ya on the water.
