went out for a few hours chasing crab and Chinook. 10-15 knot wind, clear skies. had a little luck with both. got three keeper RR at 4:30pm slack. also three 6-61/8 male dungies...back they went. no females, only males. soaked about an hour. while watching my pots, trolled a bit for some salmon. WOW.....nailed a nice chinook at 4:30 slack. my first keeper from the salt, but after 15 min and three surfaces, he got off next to the boat while the net was in the water!!! son of a gun.....oh well, there is always tomorrow. I saw him, and he went about 25"-28" or so, would have been my biggest. i was trolling one of those Hot Spot UV purple glow 11" flashers, with a blue/black hoochie...30" leader...shrimp oil, 85' down on the DR over 95'...hit like a ton of bricks!!!! right at slack, nice fish. anyway, to anybody heading out this weekend, the crab were active and so were the fish......hit the slack!!!! good luck...(oh yeah, tons of C&R rockfish and ling also)

Good work Rolland, sorry you couldn't get that fish to hold. Those strikes from salmon are just incredible. Nothing like turning around and seeing your rod just buried and drag peeling. Gives me the adrenaline just thinking about it....
