This is late getting up, sorry fellas, but I’ve been full of activity for quite some time. I was able to fish Constance Bank with my best friend, and my good-old Dad tagged along as well. We got a good jump on things as we knew the afternoon breeze was going to pick-up. It was sunny most of the time, and was clear & sunny when we left the marina at 6:15. We fished the northeast corner of Constance Bank and it was pretty good. The fish were on the smaller side, 20-25 pounds, but they were willing biters and taste great. We were able to make the short run from Victoria to Constance quite swiftly. Speaking of Victoria, what a magnificent city – I may retire there one day. I’m too young to start talking about retirement. Anyways, all fish were caught on Mudraker jigs (light blue & glow) and (black/orange & glow). We fished 16-24ozers on the jigs and fished waters from 75 – 255.’ All six fish came on one drift on the NE corner in about 150’ of water. We lost one halibut that was around 30 pounds at the boat, but that was alright. All three of us managed to hook a halibut on that drift, and then I let back down and bam another fish. In all, we limited out by 9:45a.m with 2 each, and were back in Victoria ready for cocktails! What a fun little trip. I’m looking forward to my fishing Neah Bay with my Dad August 18th-24th. We’ll probably run up by Beale and fish around Cree, Kirby, Foldger, and then work our way further north and see if we can’t get the larger Kings coming down the Island like we hooked in May. So perhaps we’ll stay in Ucluelet and fish Big Bank, Inside-South, and Starfish -- Starfish is spotty at times, but when they’re in, they’re in! Might pick some more halibut up in August while we’re out on Big Bank at my favorite Stinky Hole, but we have enough fresh right now. On Constance, be patient, don’t jig too erratically, and move, move, move. All jigs, as mentioned, were 16-24ozers and smacked up with Smelly Jelly Herring Scent. Hope everyone’s summer is off to a great start!
