We are doing a remodel right on the water near the hood canal bridge so I brought my setup. I was using a pink and white buzz bomb casting from shore. I threw out during my lunch break and tied on to a nice silver that looked to be at least 8lbs. I got the fish up to the shore and it rolled on me and came off. My co-worker came running down and was amazed that I even hooked into one. I had 2 other strikes and one felt real nice but I failed to hook'em. Beautiful day and nothing beats fishing while at work. I saw one guy on the dock catch 2 keepers in 4 hours throwing a cut plug hearing. Also saw some jumpers right out in front of the house. I will back for the next month working on this house so I will bring my gear in hopes to land one. With Sekiu starting to heat up with the silvers they should be here in about 2 weeks. Can't wait.

Thanks for the post,area 12 is one of my favorites for silvers.I've been driving out to Allyn every weekend to do some Coho scouting and two weeks sounds right about on time compared to years past.Thanks and if you can keep me posted on the activity.

I've done OK over at Quilcene River. Caught 3 silvers: 1 at Rodgers st about the time of your post and 2 at the mouth last weekend on way back from sekiu. Since this is the first year salmon fishing maybe I just am naive but it seems to be a very strange fishery over there as people "catching" (term used loosely) however they could. So if you go be prepared to enter the twilight zone! I did meet a couple of fishermen that were very helpful with information and knowledge and were a pleasure to talk to in general. Example of twilight zone: at Rodgers st. I caught my very first salmon ever... 5.5lbs silver and received great compliments from the guys around me, not for the fish but because of the legal hook-up inside the mouth!
Does anyone know any good areas in and around area 12 to fish from shore?
