Fished with Tom Jacobs and wife Stephanie on their nice, clean, new boat. Goal - get it bloody with coho guts! We launched at Shilshole and had gear in the water by 6:30am. At 6:40 my rod tip exploded and the fight was on. 55 ft on the rigger, army truck hoochie, herring strip, green flasher. The fish gave me a couple very strong runs but eventually came to the boat - a nice 6-8 lb chinook, released. Incoming tide made for lots of salad in the water and difficult fishing. We boated another four blackmouth, none over 20" and all released in any case. A couple dog fish, no coho. Ended the day at high tide at West Port, saw a few fish come in but it was a slow day overall. Jeff Head was the better spot. Could-a should-a stayed at the Head for the high tide change. Should only get better in the coming weeks! Thanks Tom and Stephanie for the nice morning on the water.
