Been reading about the AMAZING Blackmouth fishing going on for the last two months in the papers, at Salmonuniversity.com, and elsewhere. I've been itching to join the fun. Finally got our boat out of the shop, and took a day off work to take my two sons out to get in on the action. Well, they weren't quite jumping in the boat, but it was a fantastic day on the water. Warm, sunny, no wind - just beautiful. About 4 hours of trolling on both sides of the tide change just off the bottom at 120 ft yielded one feisty 8 pounder. We tried several things, but a Coho Killer fished behind a Hot Spot green glow Flasher fooled this blackmouth. It would have rated the day a 5, except the hype had led me to expect a limit for all of us. Funny how expectations change our perceptions. Only a few days left before the season closes - hope to make it out again this Saturday. Tight lines!
