We had bites all day and caught a couple of dogfish, at least my friend did. I lost some tentacles from a plastic squid, then dropped down a bucktail. Shortly after it hit bottom, I got a bite from something LARGE. After trying to slow it down, we backed up for about an hour attempting to gain some line from whatever had my bait. We almost made it to Discovery Bay entrance when we tried to turn the boat around. At that time, it took the line under the boat and the line snagged around an outboard shaft. We couldn't get enough slack to free the line and just watched it take the rest of the line off the reel. The knot failed at the backing line and I just watched 360 yds of Power Pro go off to neverland, while I tried to cool the reel made hot by the drag.
