My fishing buddies talked me into towing my new Trophy Pro 2359 Hardtop to Westport for a weekend of fishing. After an evening at "Cowboy Bob's" we couldn't get Dave sober & awake enough to go fishing until 7:30 a.m. With the heavy fog and late start we went out to "GH" buoy and trolled, picked up a big sea bass. We then went to Moclips for bottomfish, but there was a heavy current and we only got 1 small ling. We tried trolling for salmon just south of Moclips where two charter boats were. They were nailing the silvers, we were trolling and couldn't keep the jelly fish off our lines. The jellies were thick. It was the first time in my own boat, and not on a charter. later that evening I realized we should have mooched for the salmon...and avoided trolling through the jellies. Salmon hate jelly on the bait. We went to the south jetty and hooked into a cabezon while ling fishing. That was a good fight. Sunday we all got up early, it was very foggy. We found a charter to follow and headed straight west 16 miles. We trolled for 4 hours and caught 2 hake before we got a king. I marked the spot and we circled around, a native silver this time. We circled again and picked up a hatchery silver. Then we had 1 king and 6 silvers spit the hooks on the way to the boat in the next 1 1/2 hours. Every one of them ran at the boat and were gone. We could have had our limits.......On our way in there was "rough" bar conditions. It was my maiden voyage over a "rough" bar in my new Trophy Pro 2359. The boat didn't even notice the bar was rough, it was like gliding through butter. The boat really impressed us with it's handling and fishing capability, we need more experience in keeping fish hooked that run at the boat.
