I put the boat in the water at about 0730. There was light overcast clouds and no wind. Puget Sound was like glass. Perfect! I knew there was a tide change at 0900, not much of one though, which is good in my book.

When fishing for blackmouth you have to troll with the tide. Today, the tide was going out. I ran down to Dumas Bay to start my troll back to the launch. I picked up one small shaker fishing 160' deep in 200' of water. That surprised me.

Later, after the tide change, I changed the direction of my troll and switched tackle from a Coyote spoon and Hot Spot to a green/glow hoochie and Hot Spot. That made the difference. I managed to hook in to a 4 1/2 pound keeper blackmouth fishing 80' in 100' of water straight out from Lakota Beach.

The boat was back on the trailer before 1000. Makes for a short fishing day but that is OK with me.
