Fished off of Redondo this morning with my friend Jason. This was Jason's first time blackmouth fishing.
Trolling with the tide, we caught one shaker right away. We ran back to the starting point, right around Adelaide Beach, and would start trolling again. Another shaker on! We did this one more time with the same results. That is three shakers right off the bat. Good action!
I later hooked in to a crab pot in about 100' of water. This was my second crab pot caught for the year. This time, the crab pot was to small so we quickly released it in to deeper water unharmed.
Around the tide change, 10 am, we were fishing against the tide and trolling fairly fast by the grassy knoll. Jason's pole jumped out of the 'rigger release. He reeled in a nice 4 1/2# blackmouth. Our first and only keeper of the day.
When all was said and done we caught three shakers, one keeper, one crab pot, and a couple of flounders.
A guy fishing straight out from the boat launch showed us a nice keeper blackmouth about six pounds as we were heading back to the launch.
