I hit Elliot bay early Sunday morning. I got on the water right around 330 and started trolling north from the launch pulling a dodger cut plug combo. nothing much was going on until around day break 500 to 530 then my line popped out of the clip, by the time I reeled in the slack nothing. dropped my gear back down to 60 ft, by this time I had looped back down in front of Todd's. once more the clip jerked hard but didn't release, checked my herring and it had been pretty smashed up. I switched over to a light green triangular flasher and herring dropped it to 90 ft and within two minutes I hooked into a big king. it came up pretty quick, when it broke the surface and I got to see it for the first time it went totally nuts. I had only fought the fish for about 2 minutes at that point it took about 10 more to get it into the boat, which was a bit of work since my net was only about 18 to 20 inches in diameter and the fish was 32 inches long. Finally I managed to scoop him up and drag him into the boat. I saw several fish caught some on herring some with dodger hoochie combo. it sure was nice having so few boats on the water with everyone over chasing sockeye on lake wa. guess that peace will be over this weekend.
