Fished Elliott Bay EARLY, as that's when they bite. If you don't have a fish in the box by 7 AM, go somewhere else.
Just before 6, BAM, it feels like I have a log on the line. After I work it up to the surface a couple times and have it zing off 100 yards of line each time, I get this beautiful, HUGE king next to the boat. Halfway in the net, and it thrashed, snapped my 40 pound leader on the downrigger cable, and disappeared. The fish was at least 30 pounds, and was by far the largest fish I have ever had on my line. I almost cried.
Got a limit of nice dungies, but I'd trade them for that slab of a king in a heartbeat.
"the one that got away..."
